New York Botanical Garden Visit - April 2019

One of our favorite authors, Andrea Wulf, was speaking at the New York Botanical Garden about the illustrated version of her book on Alexander von Humboldt, so we just had to go! Not only did we learn more about how she researched the life of early environmentalist von Humboldt, but she was also joined by the artist of this latest book who discussed the process of working together to capture the essence of his adventures in pictures.

In the NYBG Mertz Library, we were able to see a number of herbarium sheets which displayed actual specimens collected by Alexander von Humboldt and his traveling companion Aimé Bonpland.

Andrea Wulf’s deeply researched books combine our favorite subjects - history and science! ( More information here: https://www.andreawulf.com ).

After the visit to the library, we made a quick stop in the gift shop where Fairhope Graphics items are displayed and sold!
